Registration
HS Bx Fall, Mixed Winter, & Gx Spring Leagues
- Registration typically opens 3-4 weeks before the season begins.
- Registration is facilitated through TeamSnap
- If registering for the 1st time, you will be prompted to create an account.
- We will use TeamSnap as our communication tool throughout the season.
- After registration in TeamSnap is complete, a team roster is complied. At this point a second registration process is required with DiscNW for the player to play in the league. BIU will communicate when this registration is required.
Gx Fall & Bx Spring Free Agent League
- No BIU registration is required, registration is only through DicsNW.
- The BIU website will share information about DiscNW registration dates.
- BIU fields teams dependent on interest.
Communication
- BIU will communicate via TeamSnap during the season.
- Both parents and players should receive these messages. Please keep your information up to date in TeamSnap.
Pre-Season/Tryouts
- Tryouts for team placement (V, JV) may be necessary if there are many interested players.
- BIU Ultimate is a no-cut sport. All players that try out will be assured a spot on the team.
- There will be a mandatory team meeting with players and parents at the beginning of every season to learn more about the upcoming season and to share expectations of players.
Season Fees
BIU and DiscNW use a tiered fee structure for players. This approach balances the need for a sustainable financial model while also recognizing that families have varied financial circumstances.
Player fees are the main way we ensure that BIU provides a quality ultimate experience for our kids. Paying an amount that is reasonable for your family helps ensure a shared commitment from all involved to the continued success of the Bainbridge Island Ultimate community.
- 2024 BIU fee ranges from $0-$500 for the season
- 2024 DiscNW fee ranges from $5-$95 for the season
- Fee covers travel expenses, coaching, BIU operating costs
Jerseys
- The team will place an order at the beginning of the season for those who need a team jersey.
- Players are responsible for the cost of the jersey but financial support is available if needed. Please reach out to the BIU board for more information.
Games
- Games will generally be held on weekdays after school (though may occasionally be held on weekends), at various locations in/near Seattle and at home on Bainbridge. The game schedule will be communicated via TeamSnap as soon as it becomes available.
- The Parent Volunteer Travel Coordinator will match volunteer parent/guardian drivers with players to ensure that every player has a ride. The Transportation Coordinator will send details and share a ferry pass to cover the cost of the trip.
- The Team Admin will arrange with the BHS/Hyla Attendance Office for early dismissal, if needed, for travel to games (parents/guardians do not need to call the attendance office).
Practice Requirements
- Players are expected to attend 3-4 practices a week
- Practices will be held rain or shine, except in the event of lightning, or if school is closed/canceled for any reason. There are no official practices during the school holidays. Any practice cancellations will be communicated to players and families via TeamSnap.
- Players will need the following equipment for practice:
- Cleats (no exposed metal allowed; football, soccer or lacrosse cleats work well)
- Athletic shorts and jersey
- Non-cotton warm outer layer or jacket
- Rain coat
- Large water bottle (the closest water to our practice field is at the stadium, so players should not be running back and forth to get water)
- Strongly recommended: tights and non-cotton, long-sleeve base layer, warm hat
Weather is very unpredictable, so players should come prepared for cold and/or wet weather at every practice, regardless of the forecast or how the weather looks in the morning! We will practice in all weather unless it is dangerous (poor air quality, high wind, lightning) or the field is rained out.
